Diastolic dysfunction in patients with preserved ejection fraction: identification by velocity encoded magnetic resonance imaging

چکیده
Introduction Diastolic dysfunction was recently recognized as an important cause for heart failure in patients with preserved ejection fraction. Diastolic dysfunction is typically assessed in clinical routine using transmitral and pulmonary-venous flow characteristics by Doppler-echocardiography. We hypothesized that VENC-MRI has a similar ability to identify patients with diastolic dysfunction compared to Doppler-echocardiography.

Tissue cardiovascular magnetic resonance demonstrates regional diastolic dysfunction in remote tissue early after inferior myocardial infarction.
PURPOSE To investigate regional diastolic and systolic function using tissue cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), early after transmural myocardial infarction of the inferior wall due to single proximal right coronary artery disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS Velocity encoded CMR was used to measure early diastolic transmitral flow velocity (E), and regional, longitudinal, myocardial systolic...
متن کاملThe Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملThe Emerging Role of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Evaluation of Patients with HFpEF
PURPOSE OF REVIEW To give an update on the emerging role of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in the evaluation of patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). This is important as the diagnosis of HFpEF remains challenging and cardiac imaging is pivotal in establishing the function of the heart and whether there is evidence of structural heart disease or diastolic dys...
متن کاملMRI assessment of diastolic dysfunction in comparison to transthoracic echocardiography
Background Over the last decade the interest in diastolic dysfunction has grown, due to the fact that at least half of all cases of newly diagnosed heart failure patients present with preserved ejection fraction. One of the most important tasks of cardiovascular imaging is the objective assessment of left ventricular (LV) systolic and diastolic function, which is routinely performed with standa...
متن کاملImpaired regional left ventricular strain after repair of tetralogy of Fallot.
PURPOSE To test the potential of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in early detection of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in patients with pulmonary regurgitation and normal LV ejection fraction after repair of tetralogy of Fallot. MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients (n = 18) with repaired tetralogy of Fallot and pulmonary regurgitation were prospectively recruited. Healthy volunteers (n = 10) wer...
